The courses taken in the COVID-19 pandemic period are evaluated with some leniency. Georgia Tech treats the terms from Spring 2020 to Summer 2021 (inclusive) as the pandemic period. We have already been very lenient with this student and evaluated their MTH 263 (Fall 2021) course as a course during pandemic.

Dr. Chen, this student has reached out to us again about this course and emailed the following: When I took these classes, it was during the COVID lockdown (see dates of courses), and the state mandated and enforced public schools to shut down. The only event that was allowed to be proctored was the final exams, per the state Covid Lockdown Policies. Given the situation was out of my hands, I completed the courses with an A. I wanted to request the registrar’s office to reevaluate both courses, MTH 264 and MTH 266.

If the student is confident in the mastery of the course material, there are options of testing out GT MATH 1553 or GT MATH 1554, by taking either a Freshman Placement Mathematics Exam https://math.gatech.edu/undergraduate/faset-and-incoming-students or an Advanced Standing Exam https://math.gatech.edu/undergraduate/advanced-standing-exams

The final exam was the only proctored assessment. That only makes 12% of the course grade. This is a significantly low percentage compared to typical GT calculus courses.

The syllabus is vague about the grading policy. It states that "Final grades will be determined by three components: (1) Tests; (2) Homework; (3) Final Exam; (4) Participation", but the breakdown is not given. It is also unclear whether the final exam is proctored or not. Can the student please obtain a written clarification from the instructor?
