Currently, AM10 (Linear Algebra for Engineers) at UCSC is equivalent to Math 1553 (Intro to Linear Algebra) at GTech. However, I feel that AM10 should be classified as Math 1554 (Linear Algebra) instead. The differences in the syllabi for Math 1553 & 1554 seems to be only that Math 1554 covers the additional topics of applications (ie Google PageRank), complex eigenvalues/vectors, and diagonalization. AM10 at UCSC covers all of these additional topics. Considering Math 1553 is not required for my degree at all while Math 1554 is required for my graduation, I really hope AM10 could be reclassified as Math 1554 instead seeing as they are more alike.
