I am seeking to re-evaluate this course as LMC 3145 Race Gender & Digital Media. As part of the focus on worldbuilding, there was an extensive exploration of theories surrounding race and gender as they related to the construction of media through various character archetypes, particularly in the context of influential 20th-century media. Additionally, debates on AI and other emerging technologies were also frequent. The class was required to read the book "Neuromancer" by William Gibson-- a text that prominently features artificial intelligence, cybernetic modifications, and virtual reality, raising class discussion and assignments on the ethics of these technologies in an increasingly advanced world. Samples of class work featuring these topics can be received upon request.
